David Yonge’s extreme performances act as deconstructions of masculinity and bravado. Yonge rips apart popular patriotism and violent tendencies in his performative vignettes. Performance Art Cannot Save the World included a collection of improvised and site-specific performances prior to and during the opening reception as well as documentation of Yonge’s previous works.

David Yonge
David Yonge is a Vancouver-based artist. He is a recent graduate of Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. He has exhibited regularly in his hometown of Vancouver as well as recent performances in Mexico City, Houston, and upcoming performances in Indonesia and New York. His performances rarely reflect social and political aspects, rather they are more concerned with the imagination and subjective experiences.
