Access & Excel are two cubes engaged in a polemic dialogue about the production of space and the desires of our current dynamic/organic design aesthetic. Excel is a four foot cube built of plasticized aluminum floescent lighting fixtures – that normally interlace the ceilings of office space. The fourty-eight florescent tubes illuminate the gallery in a cold white light. Access is an asymmetrical assemblage of ductwork wrappd around a void that could contain Excel. The form of Access could be confused with a bad corporate artwork, or the Nintendo game cube logo. The raw ductwork simultaneously references the glamour of the post-industrial loft, and the subject space of HVAC systems of rooftops or in back alley ways.

Christian Giroux
Christian Giroux and Daniel Young studied at the University of Victoria and the Nova Scotia college of Art and Design. He teaches at the University of Guelph.
Daniel Young
Daniel Young studied urban geography at the University of Toronto. His new hobby is tree spotting.
Marie-Paule Macdonald
is an architect. She studied architecture in Nova Scotia and urbanism in Paris. She teaches architectural design studio at the University of Waterloo, and in Montreal. Her book, entitled rockspaces, an architectural project proposing a design for a music hall, was published by Art Metroploe in Toronto in 2000. In the winter of 2005, she worked as a member of the dAb collective on a series of urban proposals for the downtown theatre district, the Quartier des Spectacles, in Montreal, to be published in Fuse Magazine.
