Historically, light has been a subject of painters and has been used as a direct tool and subject of installation art. My intention is to have the painted surface address the immediate circumstances of its illumination and integrate these circumstances as part of the expression.

Paint is a history of fluidity.

Changes in the perception of colour and depth are stimulated by the motion of the observer, and by the action of natural light.

Water themes, specifically wave themes, are references to light waves and other elements in nature that surround us but are not necessarily part of our day-to-day consciousness.

Figurative themes explore primary narratives created by the proximity of the subjects in the composition.

These paintings were created to respond to the subtleties and inconsistencies of illumination.

NOTE: The ideal viewing of these paintings require time and fluctuations of light. These works were influenced by the music of Arvo Prt, Steve Reich and Philip Glass
